Phil ivey- the Tiger Woods of hot poker
Phil ivey is considered to be the best poker player. Phil resides in Las Vegas with his wife and plays in the biggest cash games there. Phil's World Hot poker Tour credits include a first place finish at the 2008 LA Hot poker Classic. Some other final tables include a third place finish at the season one Foxwoods event, second at season one Tunica, and third at the season one World Hot poker Tour Championship. In season three, he the poker players finished 6th at Borgata, 3rd at Reno Hilton, and third again at the World Hot poker Tour Championship. He has several World Series of Hot poker bracelets. In 2000, he won the Pot Limit event, in 2002 he won the S.H.O.E, 7-Card Stud Hi-Lo Split, and the $1500 7 Card stud event and in 2005 he won the Pot Limit Omaha event. Other notable finishes are his first place finishes at the 2004 Championship at Turning Stone and 2005 Monte Carlo Millions.
Paul Darden
Paul Darden grew up in the ghettos of New Haven, Connecticut. This Poker player got mixed up with the wrong crowd, hanging out with robbers and drug dealers. At 15, he was accused of murder. He was acquitted, a case of mistaken identity. The experience motivated him to turn his life around. Poker player’s credits hot poker with being one of the moderating forces in his life. As a high school dropout, there were not a lot of options for him to earn a legitimate income, but Foxwoods Casino had opened nearby. He was soon able to make a living beating the local games. He also traveled to Atlantic City to play in the $75-$150 Stud games. This is where he met his friend and mentor, Phil Ivey.
Paul has won World Series of Hot poker bracelet. He won the $2500 Seven Card Stud event in 2001. Other accomplishments include a first place finish at the Lucky Chances No Limit World Hot poker Tour Event (2002), a first place at the $1,500 No Limit Championship Event at Foxwoods, a fifth place finish at the WPT Party Hot poker Million season three Limit Hold’em Event (2005), a first place finish at the $2500 Mirage Hot poker Showdown No-Limit Event, and a first place finish at the $1500 Mirage Hot poker Showdown Omaha Hi/Lo event. Paul has also been featured on the World Hot poker Tour's "Bad Boys of Hot poker" episode.
Kristy Gazes
Kristy started playing hot poker in 1986 (she was underage at the time) and liked to play mixed games (Stud Hi Low, Omaha Hi Low, Stud, Deuce to Seven, and Razz). She is a great all around female poker player and became the best poker player by putting them in the hours. She plays cash games for a living, but she does enter tournaments from time to time (usually the WPT events and larger buy-in tournaments). Some of her credits include winning the 2003 World Championship of Online Hot poker Omaha Hi Low event, finishing fifth in the 2002 World Series of poker S.H.O.E. event and winning the 2007 World Hot poker Tour Ladies Invitational.
The tournament where she received some of the recognition she deserves was the FullTilt Championship at Wynn Las Vegas. Kristy considers Daniel Negreanu to be one of the greatest female poker players because he plays all games well, tournaments as well as cash games. Some of the other poker players she respects are Billy Duarte because he taught her a lot about No Limit Holdem and Bill Gazes (her ex-husband) because he is a great all around poker players. Any poker players who continues to learn as they go has her respect.
